Project Title:    Planning for the DRI Renewable Energy Center (Phase I)

DRI Faculty:    Roger Jacobson and S. Kent Hoekman (co-PIs)

Total Cost:       $348,141

Objectives/Methods: The goal of DRI’s Renewable Energy Center (REC) is to provide infrastructure for research, education, and outreach that will help advance the development and application of renewable energy in Nevada.  Specific objectives of this planning study (Phase I) are the following:

Once the Phase I planning effort is complete, Phase II will be undertaken to build the infrastructure necessary to accomplish the DRI-REC’s goals.

Results/Conclusions: A project Steering Committee was formed to provide guidance regarding the design and plan for the DRI-REC.  Four general areas were identified for emphasis:

A&E plans are now being developed to define specific infrastructure modifications necessary to build the DRI-REC at the Dandini Campus in Reno.
